- Description:
- The NSVs (Non slam valves) were installed between the saltwater pumps and the 24* NAB (nickel Aluminum Bronze) gate valves. As NSVs can be isolated in the run, the installed NSVs are made of cheaper option of Ductile Iron body and internals which do not perform as good as the costlier option of NAB body valves in saltwater service. There are eight NSVs in service and two NSVs as a spare. All eight NSVs are critical to Saltwater supply system to Refinery. Bapco used to have two NSVs as rotational spare, which needs to be installed when one NSV was sent to shops for repair and overhaul. Currently the spare NSVs found beyond repairs.
