Description:
Bapco Refining currently operates six treating units, which uses amine as solvents for treating offgas streams. As part of the Bapco Modernization Project (BMP), six more amine-based units will be added to the refinery. In total, Bapco Refining will operate 12 amine treating units. The amine-based units use activated carbon beds as a filtering media to remove contaminants such as oil and particulates from the circulating amine. This is necessary to maintain the amine quality. The activated carbon in each filter must be periodically replaced because it becomes saturated with contaminants during normal operation, and becomes spent. If the spent carbon is not replaced, it will allow contaminants- level to increase in the amine system, and the unit will face operational issues, and this may lead to unit upset and equipment damage, and possible shutdown of the unit., 24000000-4 - Chemical products
